What is a Fantasy Ball?

A Fantasy Ball is an event where attendees dress in themed costumes inspired by fantasy settings, such as medieval, fae, steampunk, or any other fantasy outfit you want to wear. We aim to have an inclusive space, with the ability to be who you want to be. It includes dancing, meeting new people, activities and taking pictures.  

The ticket sale will start Thursday, April 3rd, 2025 at 20:00 CET. 

  • Access from 19:00 with a guarded wardrobe
  • Photographer: We have a photo corner, where you can get your photo taken for free. 
  • Videographer
  • Music all night: There will be a DJ with all sorts of fantasy-related music. Suggestions for music? Let us know through the contact form.
  • Small bites
  • Dance workshop: Given by Dansknusjes. They will be teaching different dances (Ballfolk), group dance/partner dance.
  • Vendors, selling different kinds of fantasy-related items. You can find them on our Instagram

Whether you’re an elf, a royal, or just love dressing up, bring your own fantasy flair — comfort is key, and creativity is welcome. There’s no need to spend a fortune or be screen-accurate. Creativity, character, and charm go a long way — so bring your own twist to the fantasy realm.

The Helianth Ball will take place on the 27th of June. At the Vondelkerk in Amsterdam. 

No worries! There is an amazing company that rents dresses: Studio Wonderland. She has a wide variety of sizes and dresses. 

We are still looking for a company where you can rent suits or outfits that aren’t dresses. 

Yes, there will be a guarded wardrobe.

Yes there is a room available for changing into your outfit. 

The Vondelkerk is easily accessible with public transport. From Amsterdam Central Station you can take several different tramlines after which it is a 10 minute walk to the Vondelkerk. You can also go to train station Amsterdam Zuid and take a tram from there.

  • Real and realistic looking weapons are prohibited by law. This includes: guns, knives and swords.  
  • Weapon props should be visibly fake e.g. made of cardboard/foam. They also cannot have sharp points or edges. 

No, tickets need to be bought beforehand. 

For now, the event will be 18+. We are looking into the possibilities to do events for 16+.

Yes, the venue is wheelchair accessible. There is a different entrance for this. There is also a wheelchair accessible toilet at the location.
